A fantastic day yesterday with our nap of the year so far Hurricane Higgins winning at Lingfield just as I was pulling up in the Sandown car park. Laura Mongans Synthe Davis ran a cracker in the 1st only going down by about 8 lengths on ground that was patently too soft for her. She'll win plenty of races on better ground. One, however who made light work of the ground and opposition was Max McNeills Mille Chief in the last. Trained by Alan King and ridden by Choc Thornton he barely came off the bridle to give weight away all round and win in a time three and a half seconds faster than the Tolworth Hurdle earlier in the day. I can't see what can possibly stop him winning the Tote Gold Trophy next month and then on to the Champion Hurdle. Good stuff it couldn't happen to a nicer fellow and its his birthday today, Happy birthday Max.
